Category: Peppers, Dinner Party, Main Dish, Meat

 Ingredients List

  • 1 5-pound bone-in standing rib roast
  • Paula Deen's House Seasoning (Makes 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup(s) salt
  • 1/4 cup(s) freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup(s) garlic powder

 Directions

1. Allow the roast to stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.

2. Rub the roast all over with 1 tablespoon House Seasoning. Place on the prepared roasting rack with the rib side down and the fatty side up. Roast for 1 hour. Turn the oven off.

3. Leave the roast in the oven but do not open the oven door for at least another 3 hours (it can sit in the oven for up to 6 hours after roasting).

4. About 30 to 45 minutes before serving time, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Reheat the roast until a meat thermometer inserted in the center of the meat reads 120 degrees F.

5. The result? The most perfectly cooked rib roast you have ever tasted!
