Hot Spiced Wine #1

 Ingredients List

  • 4 c Water
  • 1 c Sugar
  • 12 Whole cloves
  • 6 Whole allspice
  • 4 Sticks (1-inch) cinnamon
  • 1/2 ts Powdered ginger
  • 1 Orange; rind of
  • 1 Lemon; rind of
  • 2 c Strained orange juice
  • 1 c Strained lemon juice
  • 1 Bottle (750-ml) Burgundy or
  • -Claret wine

 Directions

In a saucepan combine water, sugar, spices and citrus rinds. Bring to a
boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, remove from
heat and let stand for 1 hour. Strain and add fruit juices and wine. Yield:
12 to 16 servings.
