Betty Crockers Pound Cake

Ingredients List
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
- 5 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk or evaporated milk
- Powdered sugar, optional
Directions
1. Bring cold ingredients to room temperature. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of desired pan and lightly flour (tapping to remove excess flour).
2. Beat first four ingredients (sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs) in a large mixing bowl for 5 minutes until thoroughly combined and smooth.
3. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl, then combine with the butter mixture alternately with the milk (beginning and ending with flour). Beat just until smooth after each addition.
4. Pour into pan. If you”™re using an angel or Bundt pan, bake 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes. For two loaf pans, bake 55 to 60 minutes (or until a toothpick or knife inserted comes out clean).
5. Cool for 20 minutes on a wire. Invert and remove cake. Cool completely.
