Cheesy Philly Cheesesteak Bread

  • Recipe Submitted by on

 Ingredients List

  • 1 pound Sirloin Steak
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 6 Tbsp Butter, divided
  • 2 Tbps Olive Oil
  • 2 Stalks Green Onion
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 4 ounces Pepper Jack, shredded
  • 4 ounces Parmesan, shredded
  • 4 ounces Cheddar, shredded
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 loaf French Bread

 Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. As oven pre-heats, let steak rest out on the counter. Season with salt and pepper.

In one oven proof skillet, heated over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, and olive oil until simmering. Add in steak and allow to sear until dark brown on one side- approximately 4 minutes. Do not lift the steak out until it releases naturally from the pan. Flip steak and sear another 4 minutes. Place whole skillet with steak, into the oven all bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the steak registers 145 degrees. Set steak aside to rest when done.

While the steak is searing, heat additional skillet and melt remaining butter. Add in thinly sliced onion and caramelize onion until just turning golden brown. Add in green bell pepper to the onion mixture and continue to caramelize onion under deep golden brown.

When steak has rested, cut into small bite sized cubes. In a large bowl, mix together all cheeses, mayonnaise, green onion, and caramelized onion, bell pepper, and steak. Mix together throughly.

Slice french bread in half lengthwise. Place onto baking sheet. Divide mixture, and place on cut sides of bread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted. Remove from oven and let rest for 3-4 minutes, then slice and serve.
