Chickpea Curry- Tasty!

 Ingredients List

  • 2-3 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 2 pieces of cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 green cardamom seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 inch of ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 x 400 g (14 oz) can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 x 400 g (14 oz) can chick peas (garbanzo beans), drained
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh coriander


1. Heat oil in pan. Add cinnamon, cloves and cardamon and heat until they start to make a popping noise.

2. Add chopped onion, garlic and ginger and fry them until they turn brown (browned onion gives fantastic taste to curry).

3. Add coriander powder, turmeric, cumin, chilli and garam masala and cook, stirring, for a couple of minutes.

4. Add tomatoes and chickpeas cook until tomatoes reduce.

5. Serve with rice and chopped fresh coriander leaves.
