Chili Sauce, Easy Recipe - Canadian Living

 Ingredients List

  • 6 lb Ripe tomatoes
  • 1/4 c Pickling salt
  • 2 c Onions; finely chopped
  • 2 c Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c Red pepper; finely chopped
  • 1 c Cider vinegar
  • 1 sm Hot pepper; finely chopped
  • 1 tb Celery seeds
  • 1 pn Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tb Mustard seeds


Peel, seed, finely chop tomatoes. In large bowl combine tomatoes, onions,
pepper and salt. Let stand 2 hours. Drain well. In large kettle, combine
vegetables with remaining ingredients; bring to boil and cook, uncovered
for 15 min. or to desired consistency. Ladle into hot sterile jars, seal,
label and store in cool dry dark place.

Canadian Living Recipe. Makes 7 1/2 cups.
