Ingredients List
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and semi-cooled
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 egg yolk, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (I used Rodelle)
- pinch of ground nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2-1/2 cups chocolate chips and chunks
Directions
1 Preheat oven to 325-degrees. Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with foil and spray the bottom and sides with baking spray. Set aside.
2 In the bowl of a stand mixture, affixed with the paddle attachment, add the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix on medium-high speed until completely incorporated and creamy. Add the egg and egg yolk into the mixture and mix until combined. Mix in the vanilla extract, nutmeg and salt.
3 Change the mixer to low speed and slowly add the flour and baking soda into the dough mixture. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4 Pour cookie dough into prepared pan, pushing the dough into an even layer. Bake in 325-degree oven for 25-28 minutes or until the middle is set and doesn't jiggle when you shake it.
5 Remove baked cookie bars from the oven and let bars set in the pan until cooled. Once cooled, cut into desired sized squares.
