Chocolate Matzo Torte

 Ingredients List

  • 8 Matzos
  • Sweet red wine
  • 1 Recipe soft chocolate
  • -frosting/filling; prepared
  • -(below)
  • 6 oz Chocolate chips
  • 2 tb Margarine
  • 2 tb Water
  • Chopped nuts
  • Soft chocolate

 Directions

FROSTING/FILLING
1 c Sugar
3 tb Potato starch; (or corn
-starch)
1/8 ts Salt
1 c Boiling water
2 tb Margarine
1 c Chocolate chips; (6 oz)
1 ts Vanilla; or pkg vanilla
-sugar


Dip a matzo in wine on both sides, and place on serving dish. Spread with
frosting/filling. Repeat layers, ending with matzo.

Melt chops with margarine and water. Frost top and sides of torte. Decorate
with chopped nuts. Chill.

NOTES : This is our traditional seder dessert. It is rich and delicious,
and you don't even have to separate eggs!

Soft Chocolate Frosting/Filling: Mix sugar, starch, and salt, add boiling
water. Cook, stirring constantly, till it comes to a boil, boil one min.
and remove from he at. Stir in chips till smooth. Stir in margarine and
vanilla. Spread while warm.

If using vanilla sugar, add with the regular sugar.

Serving Ideas : The filling for Chocolate Matzo Torte, also great in a
jelly roll.

NOTES : If using vanilla sugar, decrease the 1 cup sugar by the amount in
the pkg.
