Ingredients List
- 3 -4 lbs chicken bones (raw or cooked, boiling fowl or chicken or carcasses)
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1 celery, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 8 black peppercorns
- 1 bay leaves
- parsley
- 6 cups boiling water
Directions
A simple and easy method of making flavorful homemade chicken stock.
1. Preheat the crock-pot on high.
2. Try breaking up the bones as small as possible, place with all the other ingredients in the crock-pot.
3. Cover with as much boiling water your crock-pot can take, I can add approx 6 cups of water.
4. Switch to LOW and cook for 12 or up to 24 hours.
5. Strain, then cool by transfer broth to a bowl set in a bath of ice water, which will cool the broth quickly and help keep it fresher longer. Once cooled, skim of the fat at the top. Use the stock immediately, store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze it in ice cube trays.
6. If there is any meat on the bones, remove it and use for the soup or other dishes, it will be also good for a ragout.
