Date Nut Torte

 Ingredients List

  • 1/3 c Sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 ts Baking powder
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1 c Dates
  • 3/4 c Nuts
  • 1 ts Grated lemon peel
  • 3 Egg yolks
  • 3/4 c Sugar
  • 3 Egg whites

 Directions

Preheat oven to 325. Sift flour with baking powder & salt. Add dates, nuts
& lemon peel. Toss well. Beat egg yolks with 1/2 cup sugar until very thick
& light. Fold in flour mixture. Beat egg whites & add remaining sugar. Fold
flour mixture into egg whites until combined. Bake 50 minutes in 8x8-inch
pan. Serve with whipped cream.
