- Recipe Submitted by maryjosh on 01/15/2019
Ingredients List
- FOR THE BROWNIES
- 11 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- FOR THE CHEESECAKE TOPPING
- 1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Directions
Make the brownies: Preheat oven to 350° and grease the bottom and sides of a 9"-x-9" baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
Melt butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. As soon as it's melted, remove from heat and let cool, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in cocoa powder and sugar until combined, then gradually mix in eggs and vanilla until the batter is glossy.
Combine flour and salt, then slowly add them to the brownie batter, stirring just enough to combine. Pour brownie batter into prepared pan.
Make the cheesecake swirl: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla and beat until smooth. Drop spoonfuls along the top of the brownie batter, then use a butter knife to gently swirl the brownie and cheesecake batters, creating a marbleized effect.
Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out with just a few crumbs (no gooey batter).
