Ginger Applesauce
Ingredients List
- 10 md Granny Smith Apples *
- 2 2-1/2" Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 c Apple Juice
- 1 ts Grated Lemon Zest
- 1/3 c Packed Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 tb Fresh Ginger
- 1/4 ts Grated Nutmeg
Directions
* Granny Smith apples should be pared, cored and coarsely chopped.

Place apples, cinnamon, apple juice and lemon zest in a large saucepan or
Dutch oven. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, over medium low heat
until apples are soft, 20-25 minutes. Stir in sugar to taste, the ginger
and the nutmeg. Cook until sugar is dissolved and sauce thickens, about 5
minutes. Serve warm or cold. Remove cinnamon sticks just before serving.
