  • Recipe Submitted by on

Category: Dips, Berries

 Ingredients List

  • Olive oil
  • 1 Habanero pepper, de-seeded and diced
  • 4 sweet baby bell peppers, diced
  • 1/4 c red wine
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • Juice from 1 orange
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Several dashes of your favourite habanero hot sauce
  • 1 block cream cheese
  • Crackers or Toasted Bread

 Directions

1. In a skillet over low heat, sauté habanero and sweet bell peppers until just tender, about 5 minutes. Add red wine halfway through cooking to deglaze and reduce.

2. In a large pot over medium heat, combine cranberries, fresh orange juice, water, sugars, cinnamon, black pepper, sea salt, hot sauce [if desired] and sautéed pepper mixture. Simmer until cranberries begin to pop and liquid reduces by half.

3. Cool and serve over cream cheese or on its own with crackers or toasted bread.
