Mock Crackling Bread
Ingredients List
- 1 c Yellow cornmeal
- 1 c All purpose flour
- 1 tb Sugar
- 1 tb Plus 1 ts baking powder
- 1/2 ts Salt
- 1 1/2 c Milk
- 1/4 c Shortening, melted
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 10 Slice bacon, cooked/crumbled
- Creole Celery Sauce
Directions
Combine first six ingredients, add milk, shortening, and egg mixing well.
Stir in bacon. Pour batter into a well greased 8 inch square pan. Bake at
425 degrees for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares, and
serve with Creole Celery Sauce.
