Peach Squares

 Ingredients List

  • 2 cups Gold Medal UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour bleached flour toughens baked goods
  • 2 cups brown sugar or Sucanat
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted 2 sticks
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher or sea salt
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups peaches peeled and finely chopped
  • powdered sugar to sprinkle over top

 Directions

Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine flour, brown sugar (or Sucanat) and butter with a wooden spoon until well combined.
Mixture will resemble very fine crumbs.
Stir in nuts.
Place 2 ¾ cups of crumb mixture in bottom of a greased 9x13” baking dish.
Press down firmly.
Add remaining ingredients to remaining crumb mixture and stir to combine.
Spoon batter evenly over crumb base in dish.
Bake at 350° for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool before cutting.
Best if you let wait 24 hours before cutting.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar before cutting.
Store loosely covered.
