Peanut Butter Blossoms Cookie

Ingredients List
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup shortening
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- Sugar for rolling cookie dough
- 48 milk chocolates kisses or stars
Directions
Preheat oven to 375F.
In the large bowl mix together the flour, ½ cup sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, shortening, peanut butter, milk, vanilla and egg to form the dough. (I used my electric mixer for this.)
Roll the cookie dough into 1 inch balls, like you are making meat balls, roll them in sugar and place them on a cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately insert the kisses in the center of the cookies. (Press them down firmly - you will see the edges of the cookies crack as you insert them)
Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet to a wire rack to cool. (It takes quite a long time for the inside of the kisses to cool to the point they are solid again)
