Ingredients List
- 2 cups white whole wheat flour (For a gluten free option use gluten free all purpose)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 T milk (I used almond milk)
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
3. In a sauce pan, on medium low heat, heat up the peanut butter, maple syrup and milk until they are well melted.
4. In a large bowl, add the vanilla and the applesauce.
5. Once the peanut butter mixture is melted, add that also.
6. Finally, add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix just until combined.
7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
8. The dough will be very thick and sticky. Spoon dough into greased donut pans and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
9. Let cool completely before removing from the pan.
10. I got about 8 donuts in my batch. Enjoy!
