Richard Blais's Avocado-Alfalfa Turkey Burger

 Ingredients List

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses (available at Whole Foods)
  • 1 Hass avocado
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 lb ground turkey (97 percent lean)
  • Vegetable-oil cooking spray
  • 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 small vine-ripened tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 ounce alfalfa sprouts
  • 4 whole-wheat hamburger buns, toasted

 Directions

1. In a bowl, combine ketchup and molasses; season with salt and pepper.

2. In another bowl, crush avocado with juice; season with salt.

3. Form turkey into four patties.

4. Coat a grill pan or grill rack with cooking spray.

5. Grill patties over medium-high heat until internal temperature reaches 165°, 20 minutes.

6. Top each with 1 cheese slice.

7. Divide ketchup mixture, burgers, tomatoes, avocado mixture and alfalfa sprouts among buns.
