Shiitake Mushroom Gravy

 Ingredients List

  • 1 tb Sesame oil
  • 1 1/4 c Mushrooms, shiitake; finely
  • -chopped
  • 2 ts Agar-agar; dissolved in 1
  • -cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 ts Salt
  • 3/4 ts Black pepper


In a small saucepan, brown the onions in sesame oil for 5 minutes. Stir in
the mushrooms and cook an additional 3 to 4 minuts over medium heat. The
mixture should be dark brown when done. Add the remaining ingredients and
cook over medium heat for an additional 3 minutes till gravy thickens.
Serve over rice or crepes.

Yield: 1 1/4 cups
