Ingredients List
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- 2 - 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes with basil and oregano
- 3 cups water
- 16 ounces uncooked ziti pasta
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Directions
Saute oil, garlic and red pepper flakes in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes (do not brown garlic). Add canned tomatoes, water, ziti and salt. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring often (about every two minutes to keep pasta from sticking to bottom of pan). Cook until ziti is almost tender about 15-18 minutes. Stir in cream, Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
If you do not have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the pasta mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish before sprinkling with the cheese and baking. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the pasta. Place skillet to oven and bake until cheese has melted and browned, about 10 minutes.
