Sloppy Joes Recipe

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup carrot (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup celery (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (optional or 1 tablespoon chili powder and 1 teaspoon cumin)
  • 1 (19 ounce) can kidney beans (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4+ hamburger buns


Brown the ground beef in a large pan and set aside.
Heat the oil in the pan.
Add the onion, carrot and celery and saute until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about a minute.
Add the ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, mustard, brown sugar, gochujang, beans, salt and pepper and simmer for a few minutes.
