Soft Italian Breadsticks

Ingredients List
- 1 cup warm water 90° - 100°
- 2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter softened
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- For Topping:
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Combine water, yeast, and sugar in a small bowl. Let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
Pour into the mixing bowl of a stand mixer. Add the butter, flour, salt, Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Using a flat paddle mix until combined. Switch to dough hook to begin kneading, While kneading if the dough is too dry and doesn't stretch at all, add a tablespoon of water. If the dough is too wet add a tablespoon of flour at a time until soft and smooth. The dough should clear sides of the bowl. Knead for a total of 5-7 minutes.
Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
After dough has risen place on a lightly floured counter. Divide in half. Divide each half into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope. Place on a greased or Silpat lined baking sheet 2 inches apart. Let rest covered for 20 minutes.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately smear with butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve warm.
