Southwestern Beef and Beans

 Ingredients List

  • 1 lb Dried pinto beans
  • 6 c Cold water
  • 1/2 lb Salt pork -- cut up
  • 1 lb Lean chuck steak -- cut into
  • 1 " cubes
  • 1 Red chili peppers or....
  • 1/2 ts Crushed red pepper
  • 1 Medium onions -- chopped
  • 2 Cloves garlic -- minced
  • 6 oz Tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tb Chili powder
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 1 ts Cumin seed
  • 1/2 ts Marjoram

 Directions

Soak beans in water overnight. Brown salt pork in skillet or slow-cooking
pot with browning unit. In slow-cooking pot, combine soaked beans (with
water), browned pork, and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for
9 to 10 hours.
