Spiced Beef
Ingredients List
- 1 1/4 lb Filet of beef
- 2 tb Butter
- 1 Onion, chopped fine
- 1 Clove of garlic, minced
- 1 ts Fresh grated ginger
- 1/4 c Chopped walnuts
- 1 ts Coriander
- 1/2 ts Cumin
- 1/4 ts Turmeric
- 1/4 ts Red pepper flakes
- 1 ts Brown sugar
- 1/2 c Brown sauce or gravy
- 1/3 c Creamed coconut
- 3/4 c Boiling water
Directions
1. Trim any fat from the beef and cut the meat into stips about 2-in. long
and 1/4-1/2-in thick. 2. Heat the butter in a large skillet and add the
strips of beef. Cook over high heat about 2-3 min., stirring to brown
evenly. Remove the meat with a slotted spoon and set aside. 3. Add the
onion, garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook, until wilted. Add the
walnuts, coriander, cumin, turmeric, red pepper flakes and sugar. Stir to
blend. 4. Add the brown sauce or beef gravy. Dissolve the creamed coconut
in the boiling water and add to the skillet. Cook gently for 3-4 min.,
stirring frequently. 5. Return the meat to the skillet and stir to mix with
the sauce. Heat through gently.
