Thomas Jefferson's Sweet Potato Biscuit

Ingredients List
- 2 1/2 c All purpose flour
- 1/4 c Brown sugar
- 1 ts Baking powder
- 3/4 ts Salt
- 3/4 ts Cinnamon
- 1/2 ts Ginger
- 1/2 ts Allspice
- 1/2 c Shortening
- 1/2 c Pecans; (roughly chopped)
- 3/4 c Sweet potatoes
- 1/2 c Milk
Directions
Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut shortening into small pieces.
Combine milk and potatoes. Add to dry mixture. Add pecans and kneed until
one smooth mass of dough. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness on a floured
surface. Cut with a 2 inch cutter. bake at 400 degrees for approximately
10-15 minutes.
