Urulakazhangu Kaarakari (Spicy Potato Curry)

 Ingredients List

  • 1 kg Potatoes; boiled and mashed
  • 1 ts Turmeric
  • 2 ts Sambar powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 Sprigs curry leaves; chopped
  • Salt; to taste
  • ---For Seasoning---
  • 2 ts Black mustard seeds
  • 4 ts Black gram dal
  • 2 Red chiles; broken
  • 4 tb Coconut oil


Heat oil and add mustard seeds, black gram dal and red chilies. When brown,
add turmeric and curry leaves. Fry for a minute and add mashed potatoes,
salt and sambar powder. Cook on a low fire till dry. Add lemon juice and
mix well. Serve hot.
