Vegan Cheese and Garlic Drop Biscuits

  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup Earth Balance - or other vegan butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup rice milk, or other non-dairy milk
  • 1/3 cup shredded vegan cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted vegan butter
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder


In a food processor, combine flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tarter, sugar, and garlic powder. Add 1/4 cup vegan butter and pulse until the butter is incorporated and the mixture is the texture of cornmeal.

Turn this out into a large bowl. Add the dried parsley. Stir in the milk and shredded cheese until just combined. Do not over mix.

Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet or use a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake at 425° for 10 - 12 minutes.

Melt two tablespoons butter and 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder together and brush on warm biscuits as soon as you remove them from the oven.
