Weepy Salad

 Ingredients List

  • 1 Head lettuce in small chunks
  • 1/2 To 1 cup mayonnaise for a thin cover
  • 1 Red onion (or white) sliced very thin
  • 3 ts Granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 c Cooked peas, fresh or frozen
  • 1 1/2 c Swiss cheese cut in strips
  • 6 Bacon slices cooked and crumbled

 Directions

Place 1/3 lettuce chunks in bottom of the bowl. Spread a few spoons of mayonnaise over top. Layer one third of thin onion slices over. Sprinkle lightly with sugar, about 1 tsp. Sugar all the onion as this causes them to weep. Put on 1/3 of peas followed by 1/3 cheese.

Repeat the layers twice. Cover and then chill for 2-3 hours.

Before serving, sprinkle bacon over top. Do not toss.
