Ingredients List
- 1 loaf Safeway® Artisan European Style French Bread (16 oz.)
- 2 tbl. Safeway® Mayonnaise
- 2 tps. Safeway® Dijon Mustard
- 3/4 pound thinly sliced boneless ham
- 6 Safeway® Dill Pickle Slicers
- 8 ounces Lucerne® Sliced Provolone Cheese
- 2 tbl. Lucerne® Butter, melted
Directions
1. With a long, serrated knife, cut loaf in half lengthwise. Spread bottom half with mayonnaise and mustard. Layer with ham, pickles, and then cheese. Cover with top half of loaf and cut crosswise into 6 equal portions. Brush top and bottom of sandwiches evenly with melted butter.
2. To cook in a sandwich press or panini grill: (If you don”™t have a press, skip to Step 3). Heat grill to medium high. Place 2 sandwiches in press and close lid as much as possible, keeping a gentle pressure on handle to keep sandwiches pressed down. Grill until bottoms are golden brown, about 3 minutes. Turn over and grill until other sides are browned, about 2 minutes more. Transfer grilled sandwiches to a platter and keep warm; repeat to cook remaining sandwiches. Serve warm.
3. To cook on a griddle: Heat a nonstick griddle over medium heat. Place 2 or 3 sandwiches on griddle. Place a heavy frying pan, bottom side down, on top of sandwiches. Place several heavy canned goods (such as cans of beans or vegetables) in the frying pan to weight it down. If necessary, gently press down on cans to press sandwiches down. Cook until undersides of sandwiches are golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes. Turn sandwiches over, weight again with frying pan and cans, and cook to brown other sides, 3 to 4 more minutes. Transfer grilled sandwiches to a platter; repeat to cook remaining sandwiches. Serve warm.
